We are a community of artists. We welcome all - your presence makes us smile, but it's your engagement and participation that really makes our day. We believe in each person's strength and ability to conquer any challenges they encounter, and we understand that being powerful individuals doesn't preclude combining our strength in community.
One way we combine our strength in San Diego is through an official, legal entity called Sundburn LLC. Much of the world requires this sort of organization to sign contracts, to appear legitimate, and to remove uncertainty. Sundburn LLC is one of the major tools that makes many things possible in our community – YOUtopia, the San Diego Burning Man Film Festival, many smaller events each year, and hopefully soon San Diego's own version of Figment. It is Sundburn's commitment to provide a recognizable "face" to people outside our community while preserving the glorious ambiguities valued inside our community – this is an art in itself. If this sounds like the sort of art you are interested in we welcome you to join us.
Sundburn LLC has now opened nominations for the annual election to the board of directors. This year, 4 of the 7 seats on the board are open and we welcome your participation. This is an exciting time in our local Burner community as well as the global movement – being on the board is a great way to get in the middle of all the changes and transformations taking place.
HERE'S HOW:
Be a member of the San Diego Burning Man community (if you're reading this you probably are since there are no residency or pretty much any other requirements of "membership")
Be nominated by some other member of the SDBM community (just send an email to camber@fuegodiego.com)
Be vetted as a candidate by the existing board by attending the board meeting on Wednesday, February 1st at 7pm – we'll be at our usual meeting place: Express Postal Business Center located at 2801 B St San Diego, CA 92102 (the corner of 28th and B).
